@winterro Sorry, so if the legs are walking and have a heading of 0, and the cockpit turns to a heading of 90, the joystick will still be facing towards a heading of 0?
Or the issue is making the borders round? In that case, some funkier math is required.
Its a weird controller thing, what it does is a rotator that mimics the rotation of your joystock/ wasd. it is for a mech, the turret keeps heading, while the legs are free to pivot and change direction. you change the direction the legs face by turning the joystick
@winterro So... how is that different to a normal joystick?
@Graingy Like the diagram above
Just imagine the left diagram on the top as a RC plane joystick.
The tip of the joystick is where the walker turns to.
Joystick up, go forward
Joystick Right, Turn right if cockpit is facing 0 , the hips are facing 90 degrees
@winterro I’m not sure what you mean
@Graingy long story short,
The angle from the joystick opposed to 0,0
ok im gonna have a look but basically what im getting is I transform a coordinate x,y into headings, kinda. I'll have a look and get back to it
@winterro ... I think I need more diagrams.
Is this a joystick, or more like a ship engine signal but horizontal and 360 degrees?
@Graingy yeah, the cockpit heading is 0
What it basically does is it follows where your virtual "joystick" is pointing
Pull it back, and it turns 180 deg
Pull it left and it turns 90 degrees left, push it forward and its 0. A little like that

@Graingy basically
pitch 1 is 0
Pitch -1 is 180
Roll 1 is 90
Roll -1 is -90
Pitch 1 + Roll -1 = -45
@winterro ... You mean like Bush Plane? Or something that rotates relative to the cockpit to keep it aligned with the legs?
@Graingy My brain braining

what are these runes
