Langnase / Fw 190 D-9 Dora

I figured my Spitfire LF Mk IX needed an adversary, so as a day project, I decided to work on an Fw 190 airframe, which is quite fitting considering the Mk IX Spitfire was a response to the Fw 190.

The livery is based on JG 301. It is very subtle, but I found out a trick: resizing parts messes with the shader. I've used this to make the rear of the canopy pop a bit more.

Part of the underside is bare metal, which is supposedly common among late-war production Fw 190's.

This represents the D-9, nicknamed "Dora," characterized by its longer nose, fitting the Jumo 213A V-12 as opposed to the radial BMW 801 of earlier types. This also happens to be my favorite variant of the 190 (I am sorry, but the Ta-152 is getting too long...).

Speaking of the long nose, it was surprisingly hard to model, but I think it came out quite good. The cockpit was also a challenge due to the angular front, but I was able to work around that by using three fuselage sections as pictured above.

Obviously, the camo needs to be finished, and there's a bunch of other details that still need to be added. Right now, the build sits at 199 parts.

On another note, uploads/news have been quite rare, since I not only have grad school, but am also now working full time. I still play SP, but not nearly as often.
