Hi guys, I’m pretty new here, and I’m wondering about a large number of things… such as, how do I upload my own profile picture? How do I add more preview photos to planes that I upload (I’m on iOS by the way). How do I get these ‘points’, and how do they affect my account? Is it like social credit? Credit score even? I DON’T KNOW ANYMORE!
As you can see, I don’t know top from bottom here. Long story short, all tips regarding account management are greatly appreciated. I’m leaving this as a place for other new accounts to get their questions answered too.
One more thing, even if my account is fairly new, don’t underestimate my SimplePlanes and JNO building skills! They are formidable!!!!!! (kinda).
@SupremeDorian If I'm remembering right, XML updates and (I believe) image embedding are also locked behind point barriers. I want to say 1000 and 100 respectively, though I could be wrong.
Welcome! To set a profile picture, you'll have to create a Gravatar account using the email address associated with your simpleplanes.com account. From there you just upload a picture, save it, and after a few minutes it should update you profile picture on here. Points are earned by other people upvoting your posts, and by design they are largely purposeless, serving mostly as aesthetics. Some features are unlocked at certain point thresholds though, like the ability to upvote posts (point-gated as a necessary precaution against abuse), upload mods, and maybe some other things I'm likely forgetting. As far as preview images go, unfortunately I don't have the experience to give an answer there, but someone else can still help you. I hope you have a nice time here, always nice to see new people.

For the profile picture you have to go to the gravatar website and make an account. Once you do that you insert a picture into the gravatar website and it’ll sync and appear as your profile picture on other websites (such as SimplePlanes.com!). Hope this helps!
