Taking off from the most notable Kistaryan airbase, two Su-35KSP "Phoenix" fighters took off, equipped with no weapons, because their mission was simple: eject.
These specific Phoenixes were stripped of all avionics and extra systems, making them cost much less, like expendable shells.
The first Phoenix ejected, the canopy swinging back and being discarded at a high speed, allowing the seat to fly out.
The Pilot opened a compartment in the seat and assembled the parts to an MDAG-5A within seconds, and by the time he landed he had a fully loaded assault rifle. The second Phoenix Pilot did the same and got the same results.
Both pilots report it is more time consuming than a handgun, and heavier, but it does allow for more firepower.
