SPRP-2: Dawn of a New Era

4,280 Airsupremacy01  one month ago

SPRPs have been around for a LONG time. since around 2016-2017, and in that time have gone from Reddit, to Forums, to Discord. Theyve gone from Vibes based combat, to Dicerolls and game like systems.

Yet there was often one thing that underlied these. All miltism, bashing military action figures together. Often resulting in rather childish arguments, and toxic cultures forming.

In a way, for a long time did RPs often feel more like wargames of militaries clashing then a proper nation Simulation, which makes sense considering how they started, but SPRPs began to decline over the years.

well its time for them to come back, a return to the old school, vibes based form. Not just focused on war, but on building a world. No dice, low entry barrier, its time for a new era.

Furthermore, rather than start in the present, itll start in the year 2000, the new millennium, the age of information is here, where will you lead your nation to?

I agree with raising the standards. Many role-playing scenarios focus too much on combat, reflecting a "demolition derby" mentality. If there are faction backstories, they should be meaningfully integrated (for instance, multi-nation alliances—especially those based on interests—shouldn’t appear as a monolithic bloc, as everyone has different concerns and motivations). I also hope the narrative can prioritize storytelling, weaving your ideas into the characters rather than using dialogue to showcase some sort of American-style hero rampaging around.

That said, I still prefer war-themed role-playing with a scripted background. For nation-based RP… there should be a complete script (including unexpected events to drive the plot), or the participants should possess enough expertise and dedication to collaboratively weave a compelling story.

@KatBapa20 You're right! In RPs people act without any rules even there is a rule. When they act like that, you will be forced to act like them too. It's what I don't like.

@KatBapa20 one of the rules for the RP is "you are not your nation", so feel free to join. ideally to help seperate and avoid that toxicity

@Kav Not OP but, i have to agree with you, Kav.
    .
This is generically my main reason of why i wanna avoid at participating RPs and my another reason of why i'm awful at acting in character when interacting to other people acting as their characters.
    .
    Welp, that's all.

You're completely right! The RPs based on childish arguments and senseless wars (I'm inside such an RP right now). These RPs just create enemies and just make people nervous.
