IS-1 Fionix Achieves Mach 2 Solo Performance in High Altitude Test

SPINNAH, R.C. – General Corp Inc (GCI) today confirmed a monumental achievement in its advanced fighter program, announcing that the IS-1 Fionix air superiority fighter prototype successfully surpassed Mach 2.0 at an altitude of 15,000 meters (approximately 50,000ft) during unladen flight tests.

This performance milestone validates the long-term investment in the "Project Fionix," which began quietly in the early 1960s, and firmly establishes the Empire's aircraft manufacturing capability among the global elite.

"The achievement of Mach 2.0 at such a high altitude, in an unladen configuration, is a testament to the superior design of the IS-1 Fionix and the immense power of its single engine," stated Dr. Elias Vego, Chief Engineer for GCI Aeronautics. "This confirms the 'Fionix' is not just a versatile multirole platform, but a formidable high-speed interceptor capable of dominating the high-altitude threat environment."

The "Fionix" is designed to carry a vast array of ordnance, including the MARA-10 "Cobra" radar-guided missile and the BGP-500 "Martillo" precision Radar Guided Bomb. Its confirmed speed and climb rate (over 110 m/s) ensure maximum operational flexibility for the Empire’s defence strategy.

The aircraft still needs a long time to finish its prototype. GCI also announced that the announced version is one from a bunch of other prototypes.

'X-1' on blueprint and physical prototype that never was finished, X-2, X-3, X-4 that never left the blueprints, the X-5 series, smaller, and more manoeuvrable than the precedent ideas, which led to the X-5.1, twin-engine, X-5.2 Delta-twin-engine and X-5.5, the big brother of the annouced Fionix X-5.6.

"Another 5 or 6 years are to be used in order to finish the jet", says the aeronautical grup. So we won't see it in demonstration before 3 years.
