I feel like they should be like this:
If I have more followers than you, I should be able to spotlight you
Bc what does spotlighting do?
It puts it on the jet stream of the spotlighter's followers
And wouldn't it make sense if the spotlighter had to have more points than the spotlightee
And yeah
In a lot of cases more points does mean more followers
But there are a few occasions where that doesn't seem to be the case
Like with @crazyplanes
He has more followers than me, but I presume less points
So he should be able to spotlight me
Bc it'd reach a greater number of ppl (125) than if I spotlighted one of his posts (96)
Idk lmao
@SimplyElegant
They could do the same (or similar) thing with points/upvotes
Well, the problem with that is, someone could make a ton of alts and follow themselves continuously.
@Graingy I mean the colourr of the grain is pretty orange
Still glad no Connor
@KorKaiorWhatever No. Nor am I orange.
@Graingy
Oh ok
I thought you were named connor
@KorKaiorWhatever True.
And no, that was the previous account owner from many years ago. Their current account is Subsere. They're not active often, though.
The history there is more complicated than I'd like to get into.
@Graingy
I always guessed the limit was so that people wouldn't be overwhelmed with notifications
That does make sense, but basing spotlighting around who doesn't need it is stupid
And a very decent bit of front page posts are from sub plat users (NapoleonPizza's Metzger for example, they were at 6k when they made it iirc)
Also is your name Connor perhaps?
@KorKaiorWhatever Honestly both are pretty shaky. Why there's even a limit at all is a better question.
I guess it's under the assumption that someone with a lot of points is likely to end up on the front pages anyways, so wouldn't need it as badly?
@Graingy
Still
I'd say it makes more sense than points
That "269" on mine very probably isn't as big as it'd seem.
Okay... then what about old accounts where a great number of the followers may very well be inactive accounts?
