Hi. Been a while.
Today, I'd like to talk to you about my stance on republishing successors. As I believe it is something I have not yet been clear upon.
The statement below will also be available on my bio.
There are a lot of controversies regarding publishing successors in this site. Some won't allow you to post without consent, some encourage it.
I am in the middle of both when it comes to publishing successors. You not need my permission, as I believe it is best to let creative freedom roam free. It is a sandbox game after all.
However, I highly disagree to publishing successors without any effort put out to making a meaningful change for the craft as I believe that is a form of stealing. Republishing a build without changes meaningful to the predecessor craft is highly disrespectful to the original builder, and I highly discourage it.
That said, the bar for "meaningful changes" for me is set pretty low. If I can first see a change of form on the successor craft, then I'll allow it to stay. So any simple addition such as a loadout to an otherwise clean aircraft I will not consider as stealing. However, simply changing the colors of a craft I made without any further changes is a no-go from me. Although this description may fluctuate from time to time.
One more thing. While I do consent basically to every build that uses my craft as a predecessor, please do notify me of such in a form of credit. It can be from auto-credit, a tag, or a mention on the description. Whatever's fine, as long as you publicly acknowledge that the craft you've made from mine was not originally yours.
TL;DR, No need to ask permissions from me, but don't make it only have changes that aren't meaningful and please credit me when you're publishing it.
If you have any questions regarding it, or a successor build of mine you would like to report to me and clarify if I allow it or not, please ask away.
got it
Agreed.
