The UAC/HAL Il-214 Multirole Transport Aircraft (MTA) is a medium-lift, high-wing military transport aircraft being built as a joint venture between Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and India's Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL). Both companies are investing US$300 million each in the joint venture.
The MTA is expected to replace the Indian Air Force's aging fleet of Antonov An-32 transport aircraft. It is designed for regular transport duties and also for deploying paratroopers. It is expected to make its first flight in 2014 and enter service in 2016.
