In the upcoming road to Simpleplanes 2 one question has raced across my mind how do the usernames work?
Option A: You can create your own usernames and change them quite easily
Option B: the SP Website is needed to make a general account to play online (website user and password)
i am 99% sure you will have to log in using your simpleplanes.com account, meaning that if you wanna play with other people you will need to have an account.
on the main question, i think the usernames will be directly linked to your SP username, with no way of changing your display name ingame.
@BeastHunter how would mobile work then?
It will likely be your stream username, but don’t quote me on that.

most likely something like the multiplayer mod for SP1
Make/log into the game via the website and it will give you the same username as your websites account I guess
