FOLLOW-UP: Mystery Deepens After Attack on Camanian Destroyer as Naval Forces Surge into Region

CAMANIA CITY — New revelations have emerged after yesterday’s brazen attack on the CSDD Resolute in the Camanian Gulf, raising urgent questions about the origin and intent behind the mysterious vessel that opened fire under the guise of a commercial ship.

According to a late-afternoon briefing by the Camanian Council of Defense (CCD), preliminary recovery efforts by naval divers have uncovered wreckage indicating that the hostile vessel bore no identifiable markings or registry connected to any known nation or flagged fleet. Moreover, what remained of the ship’s internal systems—including black box modules and crew records—had been deliberately wiped just moments before its destruction.

“This was no rogue fishing boat or misguided freighter,” CCD spokesperson Liora Bendak said during the press update. “Every traceable piece of data was erased in what appears to be a coordinated, pre-detonation protocol. Whoever orchestrated this wanted no fingerprints.”

“The Camanian Gulf is secure and will remain so. This escalation—while regrettable—is necessary to deter further covert aggression.”

Intelligence officials have reiterated that the motives and affiliations behind both Thursday’s downed reconnaissance aircraft and this morning’s disguised assault vessel remain unknown, though several officials speaking on condition of anonymity suggest the possibility of a non-state actor with advanced resources—or a shadow operation backed unofficially by a hostile power.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reached out to international partners, requesting satellite and naval surveillance logs from the past 72 hours.

In the meantime, commercial shipping companies are being advised to take EXTREME CAUTION. The Camanian Maritime Authority has issued a Level Red Advisory for all civilian vessels within 300 nautical miles of the region.
