CAMANIA CITY — Tensions flared in the Camanian Gulf today as a Camanian Howard-class destroyer was fired upon by an unidentified vessel, just hours after the Camanian States formally declared an expanded territorial claim over the maritime zone.
According to a statement released by the Camanian Council of Defense (CCD), the destroyer CSDD Resolute was conducting a standard patrol near the new territorial boundary early Saturday morning when it came under fire from what appeared to be a commercial cargo ship. CCD officials later confirmed the vessel was “heavily modified and armed,” suggesting it was a covert military craft operating under false civilian markings.
The attack was ultimately unsuccessful. The Resolute sustained no damage or casualties, and returned fire in what officials described as a "measured and appropriate response." The attacking vessel was obliterated by one Mk.6 HASM missile, and multiple direct hits from the main gun at close range, the target sank within minutes. Camanian naval divers are currently conducting recovery operations to identify the origin and composition of the ship.

This brazen assault comes just two days after the shooting down of a Camanian reconnaissance aircraft by an unidentified vessel in the same region on Thursday, August 28. While no nation or group has claimed responsibility for either attack, defense analysts and intelligence officials believe the two incidents are "highly likely to be connected."

In a press conference held this afternoon, Camanian Councilman George Dosvek stated, “This is a clear and deliberate provocation timed to challenge our sovereign claim. We will not tolerate acts of aggression in our territorial waters.”
As a direct response to the escalating hostilities, Camania has announced the temporary suspension of all foreign military traffic in and out of the Camanian Gulf. A Council of Defense directive issued this morning orders increased aerial and naval surveillance and warns that unauthorized military vessels or aircraft may be intercepted.
“All sea traffic is now under active monitoring,” Dosvek added. “We urge all nations to respect our maritime sovereignty and avoid unnecessary escalation.”
While no international actors have been formally accused, regional experts point to the growing trend of violent attacks on cargo vessels in international shipping lanes. The international community is closely watching developments, with several foreign embassies already advising caution for any maritime operations in the region.
The Camanian States have called an emergency session of the Central Maritime Security Council, scheduled for later this weekend, to discuss the next steps and possible countermeasures.

Good
But we're still keeping an eye on the oceans
@SPWithLizzie There is no report about it, but for now, all the sub is not active. Some says they vanished to the trences or maybe bury themselves in the seabed like a catfish. While this happened, no activities from Z.V.Corp reported. If something happens, we can sure that its not from Z.V.Corp
@RB107
Still
It's a dust dirty
Wrinkled with rust
Bit remembering
Electricity digesting
Foil for skin
Hinge jointed
Rustbucket
CLANKER
So it's bound to make mistakes
Or it could be experimenting with a new strategy
Maybe to soon hijack cargo ships and drive them to a specific point in the ocean, to effectively loot them
@SPWithLizzie There is no report about it.
.
Also its AI will thinking rational about it. Wouldn't it be more effective to dismantle cargo ships to become submarines than to arm highly vulnerable cargo ships that has no clear advantages?
@RB107
With your constant fire on cargo ships (allegedly) it's hard to believe that ZV corp didn't utilize an autonomous AI to hijack one
@RB107 That wasn't what I meant but ok
And i like to say random fact out of the blue then leave =D
@MetallicBeef6572 I mention it because @SPWithLizzie mention Z.V.Corp (looks like there is some misunderstanding here, so i need to straighten it out) Thats why i tag her too here
@RB107 The official statement released by the camanian government never mentioned ZV Corp, however you bringing that up raises some suspicion
@MetallicBeef6572 @SPWithLizzie
Z.V.Corp reportedly never operating heavy modified and armed cargo ship.
@SPWithLizzie Idk bout a submarine... more like fish food
@MetallicBeef6572
Yes
And it submerged very deep
It was definitely the ZV corp submarine
@SPWithLizzie VERY quickly
Data from the cruisers show it quickly submerged after shooting the destroyer
