Is there a way to measure skill in simpleplanes?

48.4k Hiiamhere  2 months ago

My question
For the longest of time I have been wondering. How good at the game am I actually? And a normal player would say just look at the upvoates if you get little you suck, if you get a lot you are great. But I never make "normal builds" I never make planes cars and such. And upvotes work differently in wierd builds than in normal ones. So I wonder how then to measure it?

This is how I would measure skill.
1 Part usage:How many parts does a player need to use to make something. The less parts the better.
2 Overload how good are you at programming. This one is tricky to measure because I don't know how to code well.
3 Build 3 totally different builds. A plane with full interior, a Walmart, and a t-rex.

I guess making a 9 part F4F hellcat makes me a good builder lol.

But I measure my owns from the forms and functionality. So far my builds look like crap bc I'm too lazy ig

@Kikikokikomarumaru15000 This is mainly due to the fact that I compare myself to other SP builders, the assessment of more experienced SP builders, and also because of my self-criticism.

@Kikikokikomarumaru15000 The amateur writer in me (that has not eaten in years and is starting to smell) likes that comparison, strange as it is.

If you can successfully make simpleplanes from scratch in 3 days
    you have skill

@SILVERPANZER "My SP skills are pretty mediocre and crap." How did you come to this conclusion? What is your thought process? Because I can't read your mind, or anyone's mind for that matter.

Words are like grains of rice, and the comment box is the plate. And your comment feels like looking at someone else's leftovers. I'm still hungry for the nutritious info, so I'd appreciate a nice big serving.

Ah. Well, that's much easier than FT.
I don't really know how that'd be measured either. Basic Overload is quite simple overall, it's FT where it gets more complicated.

@Hiiamhere The most interesting thing is that I thought and still think the opposite, watching and playing your builds.

@Boeing727200F I like my build style, but I don't like my skills.

@SILVERPANZER then make tanks that don't make you feel that way?

Anyhow, I've got where I am mostly through social means.
I wouldn't say I'm completely useless with building, though I'm hardly pushing boundaries. I tend to play it safe with construction techniques. Long term projects are not my thing, as I get bored of them extremely quickly.
A lot of my more recent stuff is more shitposty than anything, with a few refurbishments mixed in too. Aside from that, there's mostly low part aircraft like these ones, and the odd unusual post. VR dinghies, how common are those?

    @SILVERPANZER
"professional SP builders", as in people who criticize without offering advice, are some of the biggest assholes on the site. Ignore them.

@Boeing727200F It's the same with me, there are SP builders who make Tanks better than me and put in much more effort than me, but at the same time they are less popular, which is unfair to them, I also think that I don't deserve it.

My SP skills are pretty mediocre and crap.
Graingy will be angry when he sees this comment, but it's true, because that's how I rate myself, and professional SP builders think the same.
