New Narrow-body Airliner Project: LXR3-200 — Progress Report 3 (Final)

26.6k RobertsAeronautics  one month ago

It’s been 5 months since the 2nd progress report, but during that time, a lot of work was done. So much work was done in fact, I’ve finished it!

If you can't see the pictures, try here (Google Drive folder).

New features

Nose

When I was building the cockpit, I noticed that some parts of the nose weren’t in the right positions. Moving them would likely worsen the situation, so I rebuilt the nose cone from scratch, using a 787 blueprint for reference.

Cockpit

The LXR2 prototype was my first attempt at a detailed cockpit.

Prototype LXR2 Cockpit

While the LXR2 cockpit was detailed, there was still room for improvement.

Production LXR2 Cockpit

I built the LXR3 cockpit from scratch, using real aircraft for reference. The result is a cockpit which has a more realistic and less cluttered design. There’s now a proper overhead panel, PFD, ILS, HUD, and many buttons.

Passenger Cabin

No doubt one of, if not my favourite part of the aircraft, the passenger cabin has 28 rows in a 3-3 layout (168 seats in total), overhead and emergency lighting, and an FPV walker from Dissent3R’s Ryanair 737.

Blended Split Winglets

Effectively a combination of blended winglets of an A350, and split scimitars of a 737 MAX, the split blended winglets are a unique feature of the LXR3.

Livery

I decided to go for a geometric livery, with different styles for the fuselage, tail, and winglets. It is a very different livery to the LXR2-300 prototype

Release

I’m hoping to release this very soon, but first I will do a teaser. The finished aircraft has 1872 parts, but I will do a 'mobile-friendly' version, which has no interior or cockpit, one without a livery so that you can make you own, and one that is both.
