I've downloaded several creations that have VTOL on them,but VTOL means "Vertical Takeoff and LiftOff." So where's that part? The Vertigo, an originally downloaded plane, has VTOL. But I've never been able to takeoff vertically without going off with a bang.

jk different planes may do it differently but the (simple) Vertigo is very simply.
Take off with throttle, then move the VTOL slider up (I think?) to change nozzle position to forward thrust. Turn off AG8 above a certain speed to deactivate the RCS thrusters since they don't do anything really at that point.

So you use the blasto VTOL engine, and put it anywhere on your plane. Then add some VTOL nozzles, and they will push the output of the engine. Then, click on the button to show your COM, COL, and COT, and make sure COT is right above COM.
