Let me just lay this down.

• Upvotes don't matter, they won't get you anywhere if that's what you always chase after. Even some white rank fresh out of account creation from bumfuck nowhere can make X build or Y build good enough and people WILL notice.
• No one cares about what you build or how you make them as long as you don't break the community rules and you don't make anything universally offensive. This site is called SimplePlanes but a whole battleship is available for download.
• You're doing nothing wrong unless you're stealing someone's work and claiming it as your own just for the hell of a skill issue, etc. So keep on trucking if you know and you checked that you aren't crossing the line.

Anyway, upvotes on this site are weird, just make a unique plane with a cool custom thumbnail (maybe a teaser if you’re feeling really good about a particular build) and the updoots will come to you. Also, gain reputation on the site and you’ll get more followers and more people visiting your profile.

Don't go by how many upvotes you get or how many downloads you get see the main thing is that you do it cause you enjoy uploading what you build not what others think.

But lets say you want to be a platinum user ok well heres somethings you need to learn and do
1. The algorithms of how to come from a new build into the hottest build.

1. Buildup your reputation: See people will overlook your builds if you dont build reputation to it and you must earn your name in this community it's competitive, tough and hard but those who given in and give up will never succeed and have always failed.

2. Learn new building methods and keep up with trends: See with the fuselage pieces learn what you can make the most out of them and take the new update VR by storm because your keeping up with the trends and it gets to an even wider community!

3. Ok so this will take time to learn and do but put effort into your builds so take note of how your planes handle during flight, take note of details of how things look, learn how to code to do the XML modding to make really cool things, find your building style and stick to it see ik that some users are more into building cars and boats and stick to that or you'll have other users building Fighters and Bombers and build that reputation up such as me I figgured that Stealth Fighters might be a workable thing for me or another user is @MrSilverwolf he's specialty is building General Aviation Aircraft or @Jamesplanesii for STOL Planes.

4. Once you've figgured out a thing or 2 join a challenge: Your specific answer to your question people have a build challenge where the best or those who want to have fun putting the skillsto the test make a plane or build and it gets judged by the host whom has put out specific rules and requirements for a plane or whatever ect and will rate it and give feedback which can be used as pointers to where you could improve in and if you win you get prizes and it builds up your reputation at the same time and even if you do build a grate plane that loses ppl will see and will still upvote and so you still gain that reputation.

Me, I just posted a teaser with reshade and it got 8 upvotes for just a forum so I assume the same would apply for aircraft thumbnails
+ it also makes your plane look cooler

@ComradeInCommune I don't really care a lot about the upvotes themselves, but they're an indicator of how much people like a build, so I'm wondering what makes people not like my stuff
