I've only started using the finetuner and overload mod pretty recently and I thought about removing most of the mass of some of my planes. They seem to fly just fine but I'm not sure if there's a better, more efficient, or correct way to make the planes fly decently.
It is ok if you want to fine tune performance

You don't really need to if your planes fly well but it's easier to fine tune your CoM if there are mostly parts with no mass.
