For devs: What/when is the next update?

Hi devs, noticed you’ve been very quiet lately and wondering whether you’re working on a new update? If so what is it, and when is it coming out?

    @RepublicOfCursedPlanes It has fuselage smoothing. It's just another name and it's a little more buggy with the textures, Its also way older.

    But there are no piston engines there either, but thats a minor problem. Also it has no blueprints, no way to build good cockpits, et cetera.

    I honestly also consider the possibility of a sequel a lot, and if that sequel is real, it should focus on things that other games don't have. Imagine an ultra accurate way to change the shape of the fuselage polygons. That would be the best thing in the game.

    @Dragoranos yeah, I can see Juno as being the spiritual successor of SP.
    I myself have been blown away by what Juno has to offer, but I haven’t switched over because:

    • Juno is still marketed as a rocket game, even though you can make planes, and thus the Juno plane community is really small. The airliner community is even smaller than that, so I don’t feel motivated to join.
    • I’ve heard that building in Juno is completely different, and I don’t really want to relearn building, although it wouldn’t be that hard.
    • Juno doesn’t have fuselage smoothing (which is one of the things that makes us better).
      Also, to add fuel to the fire: Juno just launched their 1.1 update.

    Sp is too old now.
    It is very difficult to update without creating problems due to spaghetti code
    I believe there will be a sequel, or SR2 will replace it anyway. Most likely the second, sadly.

    @FlyingPatriot yeah, it is true that the game engine still worked just fine, its just how the script and codes are structured im guessing.

    @RepublicOfCursedPlanes @DatRoadTrainGuy19 I want to correct you, it is not the engine that is out of date, but the structural and script basis that was written in 2015 and last edited in 2017.

On the internet, 8 years is really old for a game, and of course the Jundroo devs would want to spend their advertising money on their newer game, Juno, which has a much newer engine, more features, and a lot of potential. SP may also have lots of potential, but it won't have as much hype as a new game, and the list of features they can make for SP without having to build a whole new game has probably been exhausted by this point, so that's why they don't advertise it these days.

    3. You (and I) may support DLC, but people's needs are weird, and there are a bunch of people who not only want updates/mods, but expect them to be free. Like seriously, the mobile game is half the price of the PC one, and a phone can be 5 times cheaper than a computer. Ultimately every decision they make will be controversial, which is probably why they don't bother.

    @DatRoadTrainGuy19 @RepublicOfCursedPlanes if they can't update the game then they probably can just add mods that extend the game.
    And by update or new mods i don't mean 2gb update or mod.

    @RepublicOfCursedPlanes and here comes the starving family argument
    They can just sell new content as dlc you know
    I'm not expecting free update till the day their entire bloodline dies

    They will make money if they put more in the game maybe try advertising
    I don't remember the last time i saw any ad for sp
    Sp has so much potential
    Look at the new tank building game sproket or what ever it is called
    They got so much attention when they started
    Sp is so much better so much more simpler and so much more freedom to build anything from a sack of potato to a dcs lvl accurate plane

    So much wasting potential it hurts

    @XxRxX I don’t know, maybe, just maybe, making features for not one, but 2 games simultaneously, while having to keep it easy to use and not cause lag on mobile devices, while having to collaborate with publishers, other companies, and coping with limited finances, while having to handle their own life and families, is just a little harder than making simple mods? (yes, I’m being sarcastic here.)
    I’m not a dev and have no developing experience, but I doubt doing all these updates, without earning a single cent from it, would be a walk in the park for the Jundroo devs. Or I don’t know, they could add features that you would have to pay for, like a premium addon, but I don’t think many people would like that either.

    Edit: Just thought about it, if any of you are wondering why Jundroo can’t add mods like Tank Tracks or Underwater Camera to SimplePlanes, it’s because they’re made by a third party and if the mods get added into the base game, these mod makers, or the legal authorities, will most likely sue Jundroo.
    The sole exception is WNP78, who I think got personally hired by Jundroo. As a result, the mods that he made, such as Fine Tuner and Overload, are now in the base game.

    @XxRxX and with the fact that sp is old and the engine it runs on can sometimes be hard to work with, im not surprised that they are barely updating the game anymore, and plus, it would actually be financially damaging to update sp, an already old and outdated game when you consider the amount of work done on updating and advertising juno.

    How hard can it be when a single dude with a 20 year old laptop can make mods that give so much life to game

    Devs simply don't have sp in their priority
