I believe that there should be a way to disable the detection of other aircraft or enhance the distance of how far you can detect other aircraft. e.g. a ww2 aircraft with no way of detecting other aircraft without seeing them or the range to detect planes so far away that a missile like the Phoenix (used on the f-14) can lock on to things.
