    @rexzion Eh, SimplePlanes hasn't set the greatest example for sailplane physics, mainly because SP doesn't have thermals, wave lift, etc. The easiest way for most people is to just add some horizontal wind for extra lift, which works.
    Updrafts are just more efficient compared to H-Wind, so I always try to recommend using the command for updrafts.

    @TheFlightGuySP why do people think you need constant wind in order for gliders to fly

    @Dragoranos Ah, I think I see what you're getting at.
    You don't need horizontal wind for gliders in SP, you can actually create updrafts to lift the glider up and keep it in the air.

    @ColonelCanada
    Perfect

    @TheGliderGuy
    Perhaps

    The plane would stop flying, as it is at the same speed as the wind, and consequently it would fall, as it would have zero speed with respect to the air. But I probably do anyway

    @Dragoranos If I understood the question correctly, it would start flying?

    @TheFlightGuySP Hmm, What happens when the plane reaches the exact wind speed?

    VTOLs, heres a good one for inspiration
    Take your time if decide to build one, getting it to fly right might not be easy
