SP Doesn't Have Rotator Speed Limits

Anyone who's tried to make a custom heli rotors or some other kind of free spinning rotator system has probably noticed that there's a definite cap on how fast you can make them go. The hard limit if you calculate the rate of heading change is 572 degrees per second. If you stack two rotators spinning in the same direction, you would expect to get 1144 degrees per second if there is a limit on the rotators themselves. This is not the case.

As you can see, the top rotator maintains its speed (I gave it more power) as the bottom accelerates to 572 degrees per second. The total rotational speed is always 572 and the speeds of both rotators always add up to that number.

If you take one with two counter-rotating arms, both still spin the same 572 degrees per second relative to the ground. However, you can see from the debug menu that the rotators tell a different story.

In order for this to be happening this means that it is not the rotators that have the rotational limit, but the parts attached to them. It would appear that parts cannot rotate faster than 572 degrees per second on a free spinning rotator. That said I don't really know what to do with this information since I can't remove that limit on any part, rotator or otherwise, so idk maybe someone will figure out how to remove it from parts so you can make better free spinning stuff

@WormWithLegs I don’t want to use either of those things because I’m not making something that needs either of those things

Try using powered rotators or control bases and you can go much faster

@IceCraftGaming I managed to make an F-5 do 720 degrees per second of roll but I think for whatever reason aerodynamic and friction forces tend to work in accelerating things past the limit. IE rolling a wheel or making a plane roll stupidly fast

@TheSeventh Huh interesting I'll try and mess with those

    Someone actually pointed it out.
I tried making a centrifuge with jets a few days ago and it did really seem to have a speed limit. I eventually did get it to go faster though but I lost it and just gave up.

I’m impressed this problem on news again.
    So here my tricks, click
    And more noticeable speed, click

@IICXLVIICDLXXXIIIDCXLVII It's accurate if you read it. I'm not responsible for people just reading headlines, I'm a journalist. Also it doesn't apply to powered rotators, see how my prop spinners work. I've also made ones that just jump almost instantly to their position just by making the speed stupidly high

...for floppy rotators that move with jet engines.

Maybe you should change that title, it's not really all that accurate.
