Guns behind Propellers

4,252 Droslash  8.3 years ago

Hi all, I got a tip to place guns behind Props and be able to shoot (such as this ).

I figured that if the guns are really close to the prop it wont blow up when you shoot. if the guns are too far behind the prop it will brake. Look at how close the guns are to the props on the link.

Someone asked me so i wanted to share it with the community. Maybe a lot of you already know about this, in this case let me know.

I remember watching a documentary and a ww2 plane came up with bad it's guns on the propeller and it was timed right so it would not you it but it cepted of breaking so they stuck it on the wings.

@Droslash It's probably trying to emulate a real life synchronization gear, which assures that a bullet will not be fired when the propeller passes in front of the barrel. If the gun was farther away the propeller may be in its path by the time the bullet reaches it.

@JolanXBL I think thats also the reason why guns still work if they are hidden in the wing. (-:

Yeah, that must be it. I didn't even think about why it works xD. You are surely right@JolanXBL

Sounds like the bullets are spawned just in front on the barrels so they may spawn in front of the props if close enough :)
