Just posting my general thoughts on the game so far.
The good: delivers what it promises, sandbox flight sim where you can build just about anything. Graphics are acceptable, sound/music is good. Building is fairly easy, albeit confusing if you have no background in 3d design.
the bad: bugs. oh my god, the bugs. Everything is bugged. Eagle pass is unplayable, doesn't matter what plane/type of propulsion you use, it doesn't work and both planes AI and human nose dive to their deaths.
dogfighting: absolute joke. 99% of the time you start already in their sights and there really is no way to dodge it. I experimented watching the AI battle eachother, and it's the same thing, one of the planes simply starts with the other one in their crosshairs and they win every single time.
The SAM site mission. Laughably hard, again, when the level starts, there is already a missile heading straight for you, you are just getting to speed and there is NO way to evade it. Did you guys play these missions before you released the game? I just don't get how you could think this was working properly. I had to use this crazy broken glider I found on the download page that can bug out the game and go way way faster than the missiles. That's the only way I can see this level being possible. Stage 1-3, beatable, stage 4, no way.
Most of the weapon missions are laughable. Tanks are nearly impossible to hit with rockets. I have no clue how you're supposed to aim the bombs, nor is there any guidance, just "try your best". The bomber escort mission is nearly impossible. Seriously, how are you supposed to beat that? Their missiles have the same range as yours, if you try to intercept a plane before it gets to the bomber, the 2nd spawned plane just blows it up before you can make it back. If you sit by the bomber, the AI take down the bomber before you can do anything.
Bridge Demolition wasn't bad, although I swear I hit one of the bridges with 15 rockets before it went down.
The race tracks suffer from having areas where any plane can hang, to suddenly have a turn that only a p-51 could make. Pretty annoying. Like Typhoon circuit, you can make most of the turns until you get to this one bend that is literally impossible to make unless you are flying a slow moving propeller type airplane like the P-51.
Overall though, I'm having fun with the game and I recommend it, I just think you need to work out these bugs and make the challenges... possible?
"no way to dodge it" It is hard but I have dodged successfully many times. You have to wit till the missile is RIGHT behind you and then you need to make a sharp turn and it will miss and cant turn back with you fast enough. Or try going very low over land and different peaks, and dive in and out of valleys. Makes it VERY hard for the enemy to get a lock
^^
Plus try dive bombing with bombs it's very easy that way. It's not really bugs and horrible programming but your lack of experience with this game. You don't see any of us complaining :)
Eagle Pass is a glider race, the description specifically mentions that no engines are allowed. It is perfectly winnable, you just need the right sort of plane for it. Long, thin wings and minimal weight are good.
Dogfighting: it's not perfect, but try different start locations and you'll get different results. The WWII one is also better for this.
SAM Evasion: you need a very fast and agile plane, but again it's quite doable. A couple of J50s and a good turn rate should get your through it alright. Occasionally the start position screws you over, but it is only occasional.
Rockets: yeah I suck with those too. I think it would be better with practice but they're definitely the toughest weapon to use by a long shot, barring huge targets like the bridges.
Bombs: fly low, and also get some practice. You'll get it. It's meant to be a challenge, after all.
Bomber escort mission: this one can be done, you just need to equip your plane with the longer-ranged fire-and-forget missiles. The enemies use the semi-guided ones, so if you can take them out, anything they fire will miss. These ones also mean you don't have to watch them, so you can go get the second enemy. Couple a four mile range advantage with however fast you can move to intercept them and you should be good.
Race tracks: again, agility is the key. I've done Daredevil at full thrust for the whole track in a supersonic jet, I just had to make it turn really fast. That means that the challenge stays as you get better, because you can try to do it in progressively faster planes.
I'm not trying to say you can't criticise the game, but a lot of this is pretty unfounded.
