[Teaser] 1.10 Tech demo plane (radar+ dive/skip bombing solution finder) vol.3

Hi everyone, it's me.
I went on a vacation this week and just returned a few hours ago.
This is what my new technology demostrator plane is looking now:

Radar

This aircraft now carries two fully functional radars.

FuG240 "Berlin N" front search radar with a sweep angle

To the left of the picture you can see the FuG240 Berlin radar, which has a radar screen closer to what we are used to in modern times.
The target dot will only update when the radar sweeps past it.
A red light will light up if the target is outside of the radar arc.
A white light will light up if there is no target selected.

FuG 200 Hohentwiel radar

To the right of the Berlin radar screen, you can see three circular displays, these are for the FuG 200 Hohentwiel radar.
This one simulates the older radars with multiple CRT displays and no sweeping.
The performance is set as (almost) identical to the German FuG 200 Hohentwiel, except for the shortened range, since you can hardly find any target outside 20km range in SP.

The screen is built according to a similar radar, the FuG 202 Lichtenstein.
The first CRT from the left is distance, a radial osciloscope will show a bump at the target's range. every 90 degrees means 5 km.
the second CRT is azimuth. you can see that the wave shape is slightly offset to the right, which means the target is slightly off to your right side.
the 3rd CRT is elevation. You can see that the target is obviously below you.
For the 2nd and 3rd CRT display, the axis perpendicular to the wave bump is range (target distance).
Just like the berlin radar, this one also will shut down when target is not within its detection arc. However, I left the azimuth function to be on, in order to make the player easier to identify which direction the target is at.

Be advised that for the purpose of ease to use and to design, the radar on this aircraft does NOT simulate aircraft banking/rolling. IRL radars would be affected by aircraft attitude, then compensate them with a gyro but simply stop functioning when the banking is too great, yet such a design won't fit the SP gameplay too well.

Next, the target solution finder.

Dual-purpose target solution finder

This is my target solution finder, I fixed it under the reflective sight of my plane.
It has two modes, one for land target, one for sea target.

the solution finder has three components: altitude qualifier, sink rate qualifier and error indicator.

For ground targets, only the error indicator is used.
you dive toward the target, and see the reaction of the error indicators.
There are three circles, one for 100m error, one for 50m and one for 20m.
so if you see three circles, just like in the screenshot, it means that the calculated distance (error) from the target upon the predicted impact time is within 20 meters. For two circles it means within 50 meters, and so on.

For Naval targets, you have to take the altitude and sink rate qualifiers into account as well.

The altitude qualifier (red light) will turn on when you are below 200m and has gear up (so that it doesn't get triggered when you are landing)
The sink rate qualifier turns on when your descent rate is below 10m/s. The skip bomb may sink if it entered water at a steep angle, and the qualifiers will make sure that you drop it at proper altitude and angle.
Note that the sink rate qualifier is not lit in the screenshot. This is because it actually blinks very rapidly, and the screenshot happened to capture the moment it is off.

This plane is currently undergoing tests, and will be uploaded soon.

@vcharng Negative opacity glass glows, but it also inverts the color

@BagelPlane I'm having some problem with the beacon light part, so it'll be hard for me to build a glow-at-night thing.....

Now what I want to see is a modern 360 degree style radar using the new glass so it can glow at night.
