They don't, it's just the facts, I can understand useing one to aid to the maneuverability but not solely relying on gyroscopes. I have seen some people who build a helicopter, it doesn't fly and so just fill it with gyros! It doesn't need a gyro, all they had to do was putt the COM under the rotor. And it flys so much better!

To solve the problem that omel said is simple. To move the CoM slightly forward of the rotor. Sure it would make it go forward, but it's better than going backwards amirite

It's even worse when the plane doesn't fly so they just dump a bunch of gyroscopes on the top of their plane.
