Help with funky trees for direction of travel alignment on tailess aircraft

20.3k JessaLeih  4.0 years ago

So I've recently uploaded a genuine tailess aircraft that uses airbrakes for yaw authority and preventing unwanted yaw behavior, it flies pretty well and it's very stable, but it often flies at a slight angle as if facing a crosswind due to lacking a stabilizer to weathervane it.

Is there a function that would make an aircraft align itself to it's direction of travel? Something that can be applied to control surfaces and rotators should also work on my brake arrangement.

Thanks again, I made a successor that can align itself using brakes now https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/m7Ch4I/Raccoon-MK-12

@CenturiVonKikie you could even do thrust differential for yaw stabilization, it gets a little complicated with engine spool up though

@Flightsonic thanks so much, I didn't know it was referred to as AngleOfSlip, I'll try to implement that.
@TrislandianAlliance it would definitely be very cool

AngleOfSlip determines your angle in comparison to your heading on the yaw axis

That would be cool too, so it will be some sortof fly by wire system
