What are your favorite engine sounds?

6,499 XVIindustries  10.0 years ago

My personal favourites come to people with no surprise,
The AVRO Vulcan 'Howl' sound produced when she goes full throttle (I can't replicate sound in SP but I have made my wil rplica very LOUD!)

The Hawker Hunter 'blue note' sound

A supermarine griffon sea fire doing a head over pass at 200mph

the sopwith triplane's gnôme engine

And the growl of the P40 warhawk

Yeah, but I didn't need to, I saw 1 and a Percival provost formation flying at shuttleworth just last month.... The day of the Vulcans final display :'( it was quite funny actually, when the Vulcan went it sounded, like the announcer was about to cry, but the harverd did a great display, and it sounded good, lol but not as good as the griffon spitfire and no where near as powerful as the Vulcan @PlanesAndThings

Concorde sounds like chaos (a volcanic eruption) produced by 4 RR Olympus engines, and blackbird is extremely loud, but it makes an unbearable noise @General360

@General360 well yeah I like them, but I prefer both the Vulcan and the XF-84H, why you ask? Cause I really like the "howl" of the Vulcan, for the Screech. . . Cause. . . Well. . . I just like its design!

Well my fav is the XF-84H and the Vulcan! I chose the XF-84H since it's known to cause bad things to the groundcrew :) and the Vulcan because of its "howl" before takeoff

I'm not so much an expert with the whole what plane sounds like what, but a game with extremely good engine sounds is IL2. Pretty good WW2 simulator as well.

Oh god, that makes the most horrible gargantuan noise u do realise it made the pilots crap themselves when they turned the engine on? @General360

@Wahoo12 I second the 911, especially the air-cooled models. Even the Porsche powered Mooney sounded good.
