Tomahawk cruise missiles, which have no anti-ship capability. CIWS range is limited to a mile or two, compared to over 20 miles for the main guns.

Courage would detect Iowa first, and could just run away. Again, it could launch a missile strike with its 16 dual-purpose cruise missiles.

If Iowa did get into gun range then Courage would score more hits on her, but Iowa could likely withstand these hits. At the same time she would be hitting Courage, which would likely sink if struck three or more times.

If a Monument-class cruiser such as the SWS Courage came up against, say, a Scharnhorst-class pocket battleship, it would almost definitely survive. Whilst not designed for ship-to-ship combat Courage would pick Scharnhorst on radar long before she got in cannon range. At this point Courage could simply run away, using her higher speed, or launch an attack with her sixteen dual-purpose cruise missiles.

If Scharnhorst managed to get past this bombardment then Courage would be able to drive her off using her nine modern 12" cannons, which are more accurate, have a further range and have greater destructive power than Scharnhorst's 1930s spec 11" guns. Or, again, Courage could simply run away.
I could knock those out with my WWII ships in an instant!
