In recent years, Russian civil aviation has needed to upgrade its fleet of aircraft. The main task was to replace the outdated AN-2 aircraft. Over the past 10 years, there have been several prototypes to replace the AN-2. But one was too heavy, the other too light. Therefore, Russian aviation has ordered a new aircraft from L.K. Corporation. According to the flight rules of Russian civil aviation, a single-engine aircraft cannot carry more than 9 seats and be heavier than 5,700 kg. Therefore, L.K. Corp. developed the LR-5. A single-engine prop aircraft with 9 seats + 2 pilots and a weight of 5.5 tons. The LR-5 should be a multi-purpose aircraft that will operate as a passenger aircraft, as a cargo and as an agricultural aircraft. In the future, there will be more rescue planes, tourist planes and many other versions.
The 1300 hp engine allows the aircraft to accelerate 300+ km per hour.
The practical ceiling is 4000 meters.
The aircraft was released in January 2024 and in the future the LR-5 should change the light aviation of Russia.
