M2E1 is a Common Battle Tank developed by Estarian Mechanical Industries

M2E1 is based on the CBT project initiated within the scope of the JLCS Project to simplify and improve the Land Forces inventory.

Seraph's design is based on the CBT Project's first prototype, the XM2 Lynx, and its immediate successor, the XM2U Lynx prototypes.

When the JLCS Project was disrupted due to budget cuts, M.o.D decided to continue the CAPC project and the CBT Project was disrupted until late 2020.

The project, which started again in 2020, ended with the selection of the winning prototype, Seraph, at the end of 2024.

Seraph will replace most tanks in the ESLAF inventory towards the end of 2025
