Upwind sailboat prototype
15.6k Rcb1235
7.6 years ago
This is my first sailboat capable of sailing 45 degrees towards the wind! It's just a prototype, so I didn't add any details.
It can sail at an average of 50 mph in 35 mph wind, it can sail faster than the wind due to the affect of 'apparent wind'.
VTOL for sail control and roll to steer
It sails best in 35 mph winds with gusts set to none.
I made a forum post about trying to make sailboats in SP

Here is a vid of me sailing the boat around. If your having trouble sailing it, watch the vid.

@Rcb1235 at least i tried but seems not to go :)
@MK82 Sure about that? :P

doesn't sail upwind.
@Stampede Sure! I'd like to do a collab. What are you thinking of making?
Nice! Do you mind if we can collab? You have some real talent
You have to make more of these!
This boat handles really well! I'm surprised I could sail around the entire island without running aground on some rock XD
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but you make sure that you have the sail perpendicular to the wind, right?
I think I'm gonna make a windsurfboard anytime soon
It does 83 in a 45mph wind. I tried to make a sailboat with fuselage sails, forgetting that sails are not planks but airfoils. Good thinking.
