The MG-56 is a German general-purpose machine gun chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser NATO cartridge. The MG-56 gun was a licensed version of the famous British made Bren Mk.4 light machine gun which, in turn, was a modified version of the Bren Mk.1, which West German Army officials found to be easy to maintain, cheap to manufacture and most importantly it's reliability. It most distinctive feature was it's curved box like magazine which holds the 7.92×57mm round.
