One of my biggest pet peeves with SP is the lack of tutorials for new players. They teach you how an airplane works, and how to build a twin prop aircraft, then leave you own you own. Hence, I decided to make a full tutorial on creating a functional VTOL aircraft for new players. I kept it simple as well, to make something that would be simple to copy.
The tutorial
So, you wanna build one of these eh? Follow the steps below
1: Open Menu
2: Create new aircraft
3: Open the parts menu. Go to "Structural"
4: Grab blocks and drag them onto the body to start building up your rear fuselage
5: Grab one block. Attach it in front of the cockpit
6: Attach a "Nose Cone" onto that block.
7: Grab a block and an angled block. Attach these behind the cockpit for S M O O T H
8: Exit "Structural" category
9: Open "Wings" category
10: Grab "Primary wing". Attach this to the right side of your fuselage. Feel free to change the wing shape as you want.
11: Exit "Wings" category. We will return to this later.
12: Open "Gizmos" category
13: Grab "Small rotator" part. Attach this to the tip of your wing. Then flip it sideways.
14: Exit "Gizmos" category
15: Open "Propulsion" category
16: Grab "Blasto J15". Flip it upwards, then attach it to the rotator. (You want the thruster part to be pointing down. This is where the rotator comes into play)
17: Grab "Blade T1000". Flip upwards, attach to the Jet engine
18: Exit "Propulsion" category
19: Open "wings" category. Its time to build our fork tail.
20: Pay careful attention. This is where things get quite tricky.
21: Grab "Horizontal stabilizer". Attach this to the rear fuselage.
22: Exit "wings" category.
23: Open "Structural" category
24: Grab "Fuselage"
25: Open the part settings. Scale it to 0.25 in length, then scale it to 0.25 in height and 1 in width. Attach this to the tip of your horizontal stabilizer
26: Exit "Structural" category
27: Open "Wings" category
28: Grab the vertical stabilizer part
29: Attach to the fuselage you just added
30: Congrats, you built the fork tail! Your plane is almost complete. Time for some gear now
31: Exit "Wings" category
32: Open "Gear" category
33: Grab "Retractable Landing Gear"
34: Attach to front of the fuselage. Now do this again, but attach it to the back.
35: Congrats! You built a VTOL (Vertical Takeoff And Landing) Aircraft!
How to fly your VTOL plane
1: Open the level
2: Throttle up
3: Once the nose starts to angle down, move the VTOL slider (left side) all the way down. This will tilt your engines forward, causing the plane to go forward instead of up
4: Pitch up by pulling back on the right joystick
5: You're flying now! Good work!
I hope this was helpful

If you know any players that are struggling with the VTOL concept, please link them to this
Thx very cool i did not know before :D
@KnightOfRen thanks
@tpg25InSimplePlanes I already stated this, a few hundred feet above the runway
@KnightOfRen at what altitude should I land?
@tpg25InSimplePlanes just get to a final approach location, get over the runway (just a few hundred feet above), set the engines to vertical, and turn off the throttle. If all goes as planned it'll work
How to land this type of plane?
@Planes000 For anyone who did want to make a harrier they could just build a jet and use techniques from this (IE: The rotators and jet engines)
This is V 22 style, what is they wanna make a harrier style VTOL
This is honestly a great idea Mr. Ren. Bravo
@iNeedANewName Thats something I could do sir. Will get right on it.
wow fast response, could you do maybe jets? @KnightOfRen
@iNeedANewName
Not very good with helis, i tried one when i was 15k and it was absolute sh*t. But i assume itd work similar to this
Pls do helicopter
@KnightOfRen
Huh
Like a turboprop
@switdog08
Its quite interesting, i've found putting a prop over a jet engine somehow gives it air
How do the engines get air?
I'll put this on my bio, very useful information
hmm its quit simple and i rare se a hybred airplane like this its a tutorial if you can say it
