new build Gloster Javelin FAW 9 4.1 rs

143k RamboJutter  1.7 years ago

Completely new build Javelin, Airbrakes on brake, flaps on Ag2, droptanks on Ag1, based on a colour scheme from cold weather trials in Canada. Personally i think this is my best yet, awesome detail and flies beautifully (no autoroll etc woot.) Perfectly balanced on CofG which lets you keep the nose up after landing to use aerodynamic drag to slow down.

@RamboJutter The build as a whole is brilliant, it's just I occasionally get obsessed with the minor details.

@TheFantasticTyphoon fair enough, ive stood next to an FAW9 at duxford but i dont think it had any stores on it. All i get on my replicas is people pointing out the small errors rather than appreciating the build as a whole, its rather frustrating, you at least appear to have researched your comments, most of the comments i get at present are just rubbish. I built a starfighter that got taken to pieces by another player because the nose was 2ft too high and the fin wasnt exactly the right shape etc.

And I remember that the FAW9R was the model with the tanks since they had to modify the inner pylons so they would fit.

@RamboJutter I meant no offence, I was just pointing something out.

@TheFantasticTyphoon wow, are you for real? this is why i dont do replicas anymore.... And the only difference from the FAW9 and FAW9R is the refueling probe, all types of javelin could carry external stores, the R stands for range i.e. it had a probe.

Another point: it was the FAW9R that could carry drop tanks, not the FAW9.

@RamboJutter I believe the Javelin only used Firestreaks, the Lightning was the one that used both Firestreak and Red Top.

@RedRoosterII fire streak and red top to be precise, I didn't build custom missiles and the stock ones are hardly aim replicas.

Oof, I just realized you made an oops, the javelin doesn’t use American missiles, it uses the FireStreak missile OOF @RamboJutter

@TheFantasticTyphoon thanks for the upvotes, i still think this is one of my best builds even though it didnt go down too well with the community.

@jamesPLANESii thanks for the spotlight and comments, it is fun to fly, if you hold the ground speed to about 70 you can trundle around with the nose held up :)
