Realistic Convair CV-880 Swissair
Very high parts count and physics! Set physics settings ingame on medium and decrease graphic settings... Sorry) I didnt expected it to be as resource thirsty. Even decided not to make pasenger interior and "SwissAir" logo...
It has realistic two stage Fowler flaps, realistic langing gear with synchronised doors, realistic flexible wing and very realistic system of controlling the spoilers that has 2 predefined positions (landing lift dumpers and inflight airbrakes that cancel each other out and also work as spoilerons with roll input reversing when airbrakes are activated, i had to use 8 rotators to "program" the outboard spoilerons) + animated thrust reversers and a basic cockpit with working instruments from a mod. Will upload a bunch of screenshots and visual instructions in the evening.
This is an almost final version of Convair CV-880, a faster but unsuccessful rival to B707 and DC-8.
Controls
G - Landing gear;
AG1 + THRUST - Thrust reversers + Ground spoilers. Activate than INCREASE thrust, like on real aircraft). Spoilers simultaneously deploy full . After slowing down to 20 mph put throttle to 0 than deativate AG1.
AG2 + VTOL slider - Flaps; (0% = Flaps retracted, 50% DOWN = takeoff position 100% DOWN = landing position)
AG3 - inflight airbrakes - activates spoilers on wings on half elevation + tries to cansel out pitch up moment by elevators. If AG1 activated after AG-3 - all wing spoilers full but only up to AG1 position, max angle is fixed.
AG4 - Aileron trim (VTOL Up- roll left, Down - right). If AG 7 is active (directional autopilot) - it also activates a gyro roll controll with VTOL for gentle turns
AG6 - Landing. Lights;
AG7 - Ascend autopilot (Activate and set trim for ascend/descend. Can turn gently, than stabilizes
AG8 - Ground steering (sensitivity adjustment, when AG8 deactivated - steers to the limit, when activated - steers 5 degrees) Positions - AG8 - ON on Take off/Landing/In flight, AG8 OFF for the ground movements
Approach at 50-55% thrust, adjust trim when necessary. Near the runway drop to 35%. Control vertical speed within 5 m/s on the instruments. After touch down - activate AG1 and INCRESE THRUST to 100% until 20-30 MPH, than apply brakes.
Take off trim - about 65% UP (at the slider)

@KerlonceauxIndustries Thanks. Mine lags too, a bit, Dont really understand which way it is different from my other planes. Suspect its physics calculations regarding spoiler and spoilerons. It started when i added them. And there are 6 sets with 5-8 rotators each, while on tu-104d-3, where i first tried this system - only 3 sets. It helps if you set "real time" priority to simpleplanes process in windows.
About 2707 - i thought of making something like that, and i can. But realitically, i play only seldom, just dont have enough time due to total job overload and some personal matters. Also we try to make a game of our own with friends. For example, cant finish a Tu-114 for several months. And i just have to finish ;anding gear and cockpit.
If you you want a collab on 2707 - we can start, but it will be real slow.
Do you think you could make a Boeing 2707 replica if you have the time? @vonhubert
The engines sound really cool. Only problem is it lags my PC.
Thanks! @vonhubert
@IzzyIA cant say it bothers me) They are difficult to flight, "not for everybody") making them more like a hobby) Thanks anyway! Your creations are extremely cool too. I was fascinated by a car with a gearbox.
Crap your planes deserve way more upvotes than what they are getting
This looks awesome.
@vonhubert Sure, go ahead m8. Heck, I'd love to see what someone like you could do with a design like that!
@KerlonceauxIndustries Thanks! That's very nice to hear
p.s. I totally liked this design of you: silver with
mind if one day i make something in this shape but more detailed?
You've earned yourself a follower m8
You’ll definitely enjoy it. Have fun. @vonhubert
@CruzerBlade Well, it will be a bit later. Like the way pods look. And i think i will be able to cut parts count a bit, at least those parts that count in physical calculation of the game and make this model lag
@Maxwell1 Heh) I was thinking about it myself for several moths. Did not yet got the idea how to make it realistic in controls and movements. But there is a Helium mod here) Tried it a bit,
p.s. didnt know this channel, will take a look
@Maxwell1 lol I also watch that channel xD
@vonhubert I know, the 990 is just a faster version of the 880 built for american airlines
Good luck mate. If your getting inspiration from YT channel “Mustard” I recommend you try building an airship. Shake things up. @vonhubert
@Maxwell1 @CruzerBlade
Hm, i never planned on bristol Brabason. Curretly making that: Tupolev Tu-114
@CruzerBlade its just a first generation of 990 - it is only different with turbojet instead of turbofan engines, shorter fuselage and lacks those "Kuheman carrots" - pods on the wing. Shortened the name
Yeah, that one. @CruzerBlade
@Maxwell1 Bristol Brabazon?
My screen is too small to fit the whole title, I see Convair, I thought it was the legendary 990.
Aye you going to build the Bristol thing too?
