Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird

47.2k thealban  4.5 years ago

My take on one of the most iconic aircraft ever to fly; the Blackbird. To this day, still the fastest air breathing aircraft to fly. I tried to balance both detail while keeping it mobile friendly. Not as detailed as I'd like but no lag. No update to 1.4 is required. As alway your upvotes and ratings are appreciated.

Wow, so humbled by the reaction. My first upload to exceed 100 upvotes! Thank you all!

Instructions:

VTOL up: Landing Gear
Group 1: Afterburners

Rotates at ~170MPH. Land at 5% Afterburners off ~190MPH. Slightly nose heavy under normal power, but balanced with Afterburners blazing!

Amazing! Super smooth flying, save for some oscillations. Good plane, regardless of speed. Lol it's fun to do loops with it's insanely smooth and responsive pitch

@JaniBoi quite simply why you can't see worth damn thing is because the SR71 blackbird is actually a reconnaissance aircraft meant to fly straight over Russia take pictures and piss the Russians off while doing it.

efforts paid off, my guy. The only thing that sucks is when you ACTUALLY get to 80,000 feet (The altitude it did fly at), you can't see worth a damn. But, overall, gud stuff.

Great work!! Only "flaw" I can see is, the SR-71 "Blackbird" had (and indeed still has) an official cruising speed of Mach 3.2 (2,436 MPH, 3,920 KPH) whereas this plane's top speed (at ~50 ft above sea level) appears to be ~1560 MPH (Mach 2.04). Again, great work!

hey @thealban , my blackbird was using this as a blueprint (dont worry,i didnt re-publish it)

maybye make a version that doesn't use VTOL for landing gear because the autopilot sets VTOL to 0 which extends the gear.

I only have 1 problem: the aircraft gets very highly unstable upon exceeding 3,950 mph.
