The Convair XFY Pogo tail-sitter was an experiment in vertical takeoff and landing. Landing the XFY-1 was difficult, and it was already obsolete in the face of larger capable jets being developed in the 1950s. This one is also just as difficult to land, but not impossible. I built this with a launch pad. Takeoff is a breeze though. Lift point is at 28%.
1: VTOL Down: Transition to the vertical takeoff position
2: Group 1: Detach from Launcher
3: Power slowly to 30% to lift off lightly
4: Increase power to 100% and level out
1: Good Luck
2: Point the nose straight up.
3: Reduce power to 27%. Use pitch, roll and yaw to maintain the nose up descent
