The Ferry Hoshino was built in 1987 at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Shipyard in Shimonoseki, Japan, for Natsuki Akaishi Ferries. As a flagship vessel, she embodied the company's vision of providing safe, luxurious, and reliable ferry services across Japan’s coastal and island routes.
Her maiden voyage in April 1988 saw her serving the popular route between Osaka and Matsuyama, quickly earning a reputation as one of the finest ferries in the fleet. Over the years, she became a cornerstone of the company's operations, known for her efficiency, elegance, and passenger comfort.
