Tri-engine Challenge [Open]

114k asteroidbook345  one month ago

Reminder: Entries must be more than 200 parts

In this challenge, your goal is to build a three-engined aircraft, whether that be a jet, propeller, or some crazy Wunderwaffe tri-rocket! While replicas are probably preferred, feel free to make an awesome (albeit realistic) fictional build! All contestants are allowed 2 entries max, in case some people want to make a prop and a jet.

  1. Must have 3 engines, whether that be jets, propellers, or rockets.
  2. No mixed propulsion. No, an F-104 with 2 JATO rockets is not a trijet.
  3. Minimum part count limit of 200. This is to make sure people spend time on their builds as I really would like for everyone to submit things they can be proud of. Marinate on the design a little before diving in.
  4. Must be submitted as a successor. Have a moderator do it or just remember to download this post first.
  5. Spam builds will be disregarded. Y'all know who I'm talking about

Visuals 10p

  1. How good it looks (Video game quality to elephant artist paint) 4p
  2. Livery (overal body painting, realistic colors) 3p
  3. Details (sensors, fuselage lines, canopy bars etc) and decorations (insignias, registration text, art, warning signs) 3p

Construction 10p

  1. Nudging quality 2p
  2. Smoothness 2p
  3. Parts efficiency 1p
  4. Custom elements (LG, weapons, interior, wing airfoil, controls surfaces) 3p
  5. Structural integrity (collision sounds/issues, disconnected parts, elements wobbling/bouncing) 1p
  6. Cockpit view 1p

Functionality 10p

  1. Plane Stability (auto-roll/yaw/heavy pitching)3p
  2. Flaps/Trimming Presence and Functionality 2p
  3. Takeoff and landing, Ease of flight 2p
  4. Custom parts functionality (LG, Taxi, weapons, controls, interior controllers/instruments etc) 3p

Historical 10p - If fictional, this will be devoted to how realistic the plane is for its class. An airliner shouldn't accelerate like an F-16.

  1. Blueprint match 3p
  2. Specs match (dimensions, weight, speed)2p
  3. Maneuverability (Turn and roll rate, acceleration, glide ratio)2p
  4. Specific equipment/features presence and functionality (example: split ailerons for A-10)3p

Impression 5p

  1. Description info (Controls and features explained, Plane data in link or text)2p
  2. Amount of effort invested in this build 1p
  3. Fun factor (how enjoyable was the testing) 1p
  4. Design choice 1p

Before anyone asks, no I'm not increasing the minimum part count limit. If your device can't run over 200 parts that seems more like a skill issue than anything else.

Also don't just make like 50 Ford Trimotors try to be creative

Reminder: Entries must be >200 parts

Just to confirm, there's no maximum part limit, right? (I'm at like 260 parts right now with just the bare fuselage and vertical stabilizer because woo livery)

@SPAircraftOfficial contra rotating props are usually one engine except on stuff like the Fairey gannet. But yeah you could do 3 contra rotating props

4/12 entries: Ford Trimotor! LMAO! You invited the trolls with open arms. ;-)

Anyway, I’ll try to get creative with this. No Ford here.
