i used to run a craptop that did the same thing, the solution is to turn terrain quality to low which i believe makes the windmills static in some way. theres nothing about the terrain data or size that makes it laggy, just the windmills

@Johnnyynf that brings up a point i would like to make as that would be cool, however i for one do not want to cater to literally every kind of build with my mod. it would be pretty neat, but i decided very early not to; my main reason being i just do not have the mental bandwidth or time to make assets not only for airplanes, but for cars, trains, ships, helicopters, and everything else all at once. in the future for this mod i do intend to add a racetrack or two, heliports, and new terrain that's fun to do rock climbing on, but i think that might be the extent of anything i do that's not an airport of sorts, again for the reason i stated earlier in the comment
im rlly excited for what kinda map yall are cookin up, making my map addon for sp1 has really given me a perspective on how this stuff is done and from what little weve seen the new terrain looks great
@brians1209 the spin characteristics are one of the last remaining items for me to complete on the fm, & its less to do with the location of the cg and moreso the post stall forces produced by the lifting sections and the rotational inertia that keep a spin going. that early stage of the spin is a more unsure one where its possible to easily recover or for recovery to take multiple turns before you regain control, and the spin never got to develop enough to be flat in the video (i did input lateral stick in the direction of the spin which slowed it down, i am not sure what wouldve happened had i not done so but it still need works anyway so it doesnt matter much. thx for the concern lol

its not the amount of drag points that cause lag, rather the amount of parts that have to make those calculations. i think somewhere in this topic i heard it has to do with the fact it constantly has to calculate each parts location with their drag (and some other variables probably) and if that calculation is reduced down to, say 10 parts out of 600 it will improve performance noticeably
if you want to make a drag model properly the best way ive figured out of doing it is to only enable drag calculations on wing parts, and use an airbrake part controlled with ft to do the rest
