STATUS
Test / Evaluation

The VX-40 is a tilt rotor helicopter built by Vonteco Industries to compete in the heralded Mikoyanster Helicopter Challenge.

The tilt rotor system allows sustained hovering with smooth transition to speeds over 200 mph. Engineers chose off road type tires in favor of traditional aircraft tires that will allow the aircraft to land on rough terrain.

The aircraft is equipped with (2) optics systems. A front mounted camera which gives the pilots a 360 degree view of the battlefield. The second is Vonteco’s ORTS ( Optical-Recon-Targeting System ) which allows for quick target acquisition and provides high resolution images for recon and strategy mapping.

This test variant is equipped with (4) Hell Fire air to ground missiles, (2) Rocket Pods and (2) 27mm canons.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
AG1- Lowers Ailerons for take off / landing
AG8- Disengages gyro for unassisted flight
VTOL UP- Forward Tilt
VTOL CENTER- Hovering Flight
VTOL DOWN- Rear Tilt / Brake
YAW- Rotates front camera and provides directional yaw

HOVERING
Throttle to approximately 34% for mininum hover throttle. Use PITCH, ROLL, YAW & VTOL tab lightly when hovering and remember to keep speeds low for proper hover control.

SAFE LANDING
Throttle down to under 40% if speeds are high, use VTOL tab to slow down and enter hover mode, slowly decrease throttle to descend safely. Keep throttle above 30% when landing or damage may occur due to rough landing.

FRONT MOUNTED CAMERA GIVES PILOTS 360 VIEW

TILT ROTOR SYSTEM ALLOWS FOR EASY LANDING/TAKE OFF

EQUIPPED WITH ORTS POD FOR EASY TARGET ACQUISITION

Looks good, but I don't quite trust the hover ability. Every aircraft I've ever hovered with has crashed and burned. I've tried the CH-53E, the Vertigo, the AH-1Z, and the RAH-66 Commanche. They've all crashed and burned upon hovering. The aircraft looks REALLY good, though.

TY bud! Although I think the “ease of maneuver points” are lower than I would give I am obviosly biased but I do think this entry flew better than the entries I was able to test out on my ipad but im grateful for 3rd place though. Wouldnt be possible without you helping me learn to mod parts :-) @JohnnyBoythePilot
