The E46 M3 has been in pop culture, video games, and it's not uncommon to see one driving on the roads still today. It's probably one of the most Iconic cars BMW has built, but there was a version that was never intended to be a commercial success or to built to the same volume. Based off the Strassenversion race car, the E46 GTR was an extremely limited production, with 10 ever built. Being priced around the same as a Lamborghini probably didn't help. So what made this car so different? For starters this E46 was stripped of things like, radios, climate control, and rear seats. Stabilizer bars jutted out into the trunk so using it to get groceries was a little difficult. Usage of materials like carbon fiber was found in the front bumpers roof and everywhere possible. The end results was a car weighing only 1,350 kilos / 2,976 lbs. The 3.2 Liter S54B32 I6 was instead swapped out for a 4.0 Liter P60B40 V8 producing 380 bhp / 283 kW at 7,000 rpm.

This particular version I built is not true to its source. I did add flared fenders, kept the dash vents since it seemed kind of naked without it, and used the engine from the race car instead. I also cut some corners to keep it within my parts budget. This build was never intended to get much attention or be a replica, I just wanted a GTR that was mobile friendly. The suspension isn't anything crazy, and the majority of this car is simplified for modding. I'm pretty sure at some point, someone is going to slap blue stripes on it, add a spoiler, and live out their NFS dreams. The rear tire traction has been tuned to be a little stickier than I like so newer drivers don't have to worry about drifting or spinning out. It can be modified with the overload tool. You'll notice the tires also have their own suspension setting, and that was to help with launch, handling, and lower the parts usage, feel free to add what ever suspension you wish. Be warned, pull off the doors when modding this model, they tend to stick when moving around parts.

I wanted to keep it under 300 parts initially but I figured I could go a little over to give it those extra fine details. Where this car shines is on the phone. There's something satisfying about tapping on the hood and opening up the engine bay, or opening the doors with touch inputs. Getting around this car is very straight forward, and it works like a normal car. Window buttons roll down the window, door handles open doors. The hood latch is located under the steering wheel next to the clutch pedal, but you can also open it from a button located on the driver side of the grill. The light switch is located left of the steering wheel, and you can also use AG input controls too if it makes it easier. If you have any question or need help modding out this car feel free to ask in the comments below.

@wow123 Huh, amazing I'm getting comments from profiles that don't even have builds. I guess even a dead account has some validity, though I'm curious as to its user could produce.

@WiniMii I'll probably make one after the car challenge @mage2istriggered is hosting. Luckily the hard part like the engine and the interior is done.

@WolfHunter9111 Pretty much, but I made it easy to turn it into the Strassenversion race car if someone really wanted to though. I already got a race car in the works, this was more of a fun side project.

Sorry @Mage2IsTriggered, I was going to enter this thing into your challenge, but technically it's not really a road car converted to be a race car. I have a different car in the works for that.
