Feta Corp - Doublebow Class Aircraft Carrier
Forward
A carrier this time?
Yeah. What about it?
I would think that you stopped making ships.
Nope. Just been going on this for so far.
Do you think people cared about your teaser a while back?
Let's just do the description.
The Description
So, the Doublebow. It was an ambitious project, yet it succeeded. An aircraft carrier was a great thing to have in a navy force, and the more, the merrier.
Yet Feta lacked this.
Thoughts arose around the Doublebow project as some missions held out at sea were too far from the range of land-based aircraft. Obviously, the ideal way to confront this problem was to make an aircraft carrier. The problem was, that the older versions of carriers did not seem to hold enough aircraft as hoped, as many could be small drones and other craft. A plan to make a double-decked carrier seemed as a good idea.
By now, Feta was starting to make and assemble the first prototypes of the Fox Project, that would in the end turn out as a success. Most of the research and resources were diverted to the other projects, so the Doublebow stayed in the design phase. The plan was to make two landing and takeoff straightdecks, with a connection in between the two hulls of the ship holding elevators, which rose to the inner ship-side of the carrier. This way, it could hold lots of aircraft in two hangars, while being able to both take short and fast routes to the elevators, then to the catapults. Initial design called for four or maybe even six catapults, but the newer catapults could ready aircraft fast, so there was no need to use more than two. The other fact showed that about half of the Doublebow's air force would be VTOL craft, resulting in the fact that in reality two would be enough. The four propellers moving the ship can use differential thrust, meaning they can turn the ship in place without rudders, sort of like how a tank works.
Long story short, the Doublebow went through some testing, and found that it could reach a top speed of about 30mph, if given time. Turn rates were also satisfactory, and so the project was deemed complete. After painting, structuring, and other technical fixes to the first Doublebow, the Fox's development team decided to make the Sea-Fox, a carrier base variant of the Block 1A
And so the Doublebow came to be.
There we go! Finally finished... damn. Hope you read through. Whatever.
Now for, you guessed it,
Q&A
So what's there?
There are working catapults and lights. Steering and moving. Cool paint job.
Activation Groups?
AG1 for right catapult, AG2 for left. AG3 for flares, and AG7 for lights.
So what about aircraft?
You can attach aircraft to the carrier in the designer. The catapults have detachers that release right after the catapult is done launching, so just connect your plane to that.
I don't see any CIWS, dammit.
It's fine, you'll have aircraft and ships defending you.
Lots of parts, will it lag?
No. The drag point number will run like it's 150 to 250 parts instead of like 500.
Your thoughts?
I've heard some rather funny comments on the beta and teaser. Things like,
"@officialryanyang Hey, did you go into the game files and get the Beast's flight deck?"
My answer:
"@theotherperson, Uh... if you tried the beta enough to care about that you should know that it is not the same. Also, I would never copy anyone else's work."
You hear that, people? "I WILL NEVER COPY SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK"
Okay. Also, if it does actually look like the Beast, maybe that's because I just Googled "Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier Fight Deck". The Beast does have a realistically sensible flight deck, so I didn't copy, just that the kind of painting it that way is just simply the most effective design.
