About CIAC: Canadian Intercontinental or Canadien Intercontienaux is an airline of Canadian origin. It is based in Ottawa, Toronto, Gander and Vancouver. History:

The airline was founded on January 17, 1920 by the Calger brothers. The airline started with the name Canadian Airways Corporation which served domestic and international flights. the airline operated the Wright brothers' aircraft as there was no other aircraft to operate.

In 1936, the airline ordered 12 DC-3s to replace the Wright aircraft, which they did arrive. In 1949 just when the airline was 29 years old, the name was changed to Canadian Intercontinental Airways Corporation to be able to get new routes. These “new routes” include the Winnipeg-Calgary-Anchorange with stops in Vancouver and Calgary. and also in 1952 after the launch of the Comet, the airline ordered 38 of them in order to replace the fleet of DC-3s. Something that did arrive, in the Comets, the airline could expand its routes to Panama City with the Comet 4B and Bogotá via Panama.

Along with this, the airline expanded all its destinations to Oceania, Asia, Europe, and Africa. In 1964, a Comet 4B crashed near Idlewild Airport due to spatial disorientation from fog. on the other hand, it left 15 dead as it crashed gently near the runway. With this, the airline suspended flights from New York until the accident investigation was completed.

In 1970, the airline purchased 78 747s to serve continental destinations. in 1982, a 747 It was depressurized due to a maintenance failure in the cargo part. The plane landed in Honolulu. The 747 covered the Toronto-Vancouver-Honolulu-Avarua route for passengers to have a cool vacation in the New Zealand islands in the Cook Islands. In 1988 the airline was almost bought by Canadian Airlines as it wanted to put its destinations on its fleet.
