M115A1 Lightweight Field Howitzer

160mm caliber

Before I go into the description, it has been a while since I last had an account on this website. January 4th was when I deleted my old account after feeling shunned away from the community. But now I've got an overflow of new builds, and I'm coming back with this account until I can get my old one back, if that's still possible.

General Description

The M115A1 is a larger caliber variant of the M115 155mm Lightweight Field Howitzer (Not uploaded at this time), designed as part of a competition for a standardized 160mm artillery requirement. The design is based on the BAE Systems M777 155mm Lightweight Field Howitzer, featuring similarities in the recoil absorption system, which employs four legs in an X pattern, and the ability to be towed via a towing hitch on the end of the barrel, enabling for a more compact and secure towing option. Barrel life on this gun is 2100 rounds before requiring replacing thanks to the design of the fluted barrel and has a maximum muzzle velocity of 1140 meters per second when fired on Charge 8 ("Super 8", or 8 propellant bags). Another unique feature not seen on many field artillery guns is the triple baffle muzzle brake. This reduces recoil of the massive load o 8 charges by up to 54%.

Controls

Activation Groups

Activation Group 1: Activate the howitzer's traverse and elevation
Activation Group 2: Transport Mode, raises rear recoil spades, folds front legs, and lowers towing wheels
Activation Groups 3-8: No set controls

Controls

Yaw: Horizontal traverse, +/- 25 degrees
Throttle: Elevation, +54/0 degrees
FireWeapons: Fire the howitzer

Since this is a new account, I'm presently umable to add pictures, so that will be all for now. I do hope you enjoy this howitzer, I had the most difficulty trying to replicate the direct fire gun sight and coordinating the rotators to work properly. Thank, and that's all for now.

If I ever get around to re-making it or even playing SP again in general, the M18 isn't exactly what I call upload-ready.

@Lake Yeah, that'd be fine. If the turret doesn't have an interior, then make sure you grab the shock that holds the gun together, delete the breech, and just use the barrel and shock itself.

This howitzer was designed to be towed. That's why it has the towing eye, retractable legs and wheels, and all that.
