XF-90 mobile friendly challenge

Auto Credit Based on Neruneten21's [CLOSED] Mobile Friendly Challenge

The XF-90 was developed with the belief that 'penetration fighters' would be necessary to escort nuclear armed bombers into enemy territory in the event of nuclear war. It was designed in the dawn of supersonic flight and was over-engineered with a stronger yet heavier alloy. While it could now withstand 12 Gs, it was also heavier than a dc-3. Subsequently, it was under-powered due to its tank-like construction. It could only go supersonic in a dive, and could not take off without RATO or afterburners.

The aircraft lost the competition to the McDonnell’s XF-88 Voodoo. Only two prototypes were built, one was destroyed in a laboratory for testing, and the other was put in nuclear test ranges, "survived" three nuclear explosions (from a distance), and eventually moved to the USAF museum near Dayton, Ohio.

I truely think this is one of the best looking birds I have ever laid eyes on, it’s up there with the F-16 XFV-12 F-104 and YF-107

    Note

I loved this plane so much, its design and look is beautiful. I like the cockpit smoothness and accuracy(In fact, I need help to learn how to do them properly for my up coming F-104). To conclude, this is one of the best 50 parts aircraft that I have ever seen.

Remember, you can have more than 1 entry, however, there is a limit of 5 entries.
