Remembering and Honoring the brave US troops that sacrificed their lives for the security and prosperity of our great nation.

Today is Memorial Day for my fellow Americans. I, already have gaven a moment of silence to remember the soldiers that died protecting this country. I just want to give some tribute to them, today, I almost cried. I beam with patriotism and support our Troops. In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices. Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have. A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. Today is Memorial Day, the day that we mindfully set aside in order to honor those who have paid the ultimate price. Today we lay wreaths on graves and place flags in the ground, recognizing each gravesite of both men and women who have fought and died for the greater good. These courageous soldiers have battled against evil while defending those who could not defend themselves. Today it is our duty to remember the fallen. There have been hundreds of thousands of Americans who’ve died in war since the very first was waged, the American War for Independence. The countless lives lost in each battle, from the American Revolution through today’s wars in the Middle East, have left behind mothers, fathers, siblings, wives, husbands and children. It is not only those who have died who pay the price, but it is also their families—those who’ve hugged the necks of their loved ones as they left home to fulfill a call, to perform a duty, and to stand against those who sought harm. As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words, but to live by them. Today let us, as Americans, honor the American fighting man. For it is he — the soldier, the sailor, the Airman, the Marine — who has fought to preserve freedom. It is his valor that has given renewed hope to the free world that by working together in discipline and faith our ideals of freedom will always prevail. Memorial Day isn't just about honoring veterans, it's honoring those who lost their lives. Veterans had the fortune of coming home. For us, that's a reminder of when we come home we still have a responsibility to serve. It's a continuation of service that honors our country and those who fell defending it. These fallen heroes represent the character of a nation who has a long history of patriotism and honor—and a nation who has fought many battles to keep our country free from threats of terror. Anyways, that’s my two cents. Thanks.

@JackTheBestBoss Yeah sorry, come to think of it, I come from a country who have an "army" who's sole purpose is to kill civilians to make a point.

I find your post extremely disrespectful and unnecessary. like Johnny said, this isn’t about Syria, it’s about honoring the sacrifice the US soldiers did to protect and insure prosperity in our great nation. I could say something firing back at you, like, “how about a forum post of all the Syrian civilians killed by Syrian chemical Attacks and Syrian soldiers. Your claim that we deliberately killed Syrian civilians is complete BS. And people can say this in our own Country, because we have freedom of speech, unlike other countries. I find your post is attacking US soldiers, when you should be honoring them or at least not being a d*ck. Now, I could make an argument and roast you with my American pride, but I won’t, because it is unnecessary. @GritAerospaceSolutionsLTD

This isn't about Syria, this is about all those who died in the line of duty starting from the American Revolutionary War up to present. Yea there are some BS wars America started or participated in but we're talking about the soldiers who died, the men and women who did the dirty work, not about any specific war.

In Australia and New Zealand we have Anzac Day. Which is when the soldiers landed on Gallipoli in early morning to fight against turkey, in World War One on the 25th of April. Anzac stands for: Australian New Zealand Army Corps
