Now, before I start, I should give a disclaimer I am not going to stop building, only posting.
I have made the not so painful decision that, after more than Seven Years, I will be indefinitely quitting Simple Planes. My account will remain open, as will my posts, but I will no longer be updating anything. My bio will be removed, and likely my profile image as well. I will also likely not be active in the website/community at all.
Adios.
@Majakalona yup
so, your removing your bio and Gravatar for what? Reducing jundroos bandwidth or whatever it is? Making jundroo's servers not have to carry as many bits and bytes?
If I ever regain motivation or desire, maybe i'll come back. But this simply isn't worth my time.
I know this'll likely get circulated in the various discords and, hell, maybe even the subreddit. I'm well known enough, that it might actually get around that i've left. But, I wouldn't put dimes on it.
@Majakalona It's a very big factor. the F/A-44 took almost a year of tuning, only to get barely any attention.
The F-71 was turned into two meme aircraft that got 20 upvotes and over 700 downloads combined, while my original aircraft got 6 upvotes and about 160 downloads.
The website seems to value countless
replicas and meme posts over anything else, and it leaves builders such as myself who spend countless hours on a project, only to get a third as much attention as a post that only gains popularity for its flashy thumbnail, meme status,
and/or it's lack of effort. Many spring to mind, none of which will be named.
Another example of disappointing ROI here is my T5, T5B and T6, I think... 90 ish downloads combined and 10 upvotes for a weeks worth of work? It's just, frankly, not worth the time or effort anymore, just to get buried underneath yet another meme.
I used to see this as a hobby, but now it just feels like shooting at the moon and expecting it to shoot back
.
is this why
your newest post has 10 more upvotes than the Mario pixel art I made a few days ago
some live some are stuck with nothing, despite doing hard work
We'll see you on the flip side!
Adios Too Mate.
hope you find peace in the rest of your journey traveler.
Fair Winds, friend. may the whims be alongside you
