hello doctor nowhere is here with a f-5 bcz we need more freedom but i dont think i cooked like last time anywyas heres some history about it:
Northrop F-5 Tiger II History
The Northrop F-5 Tiger II is a lightweight supersonic fighter developed by the Northrop Corporation (USA) in the 1960s. It was designed as an affordable, easy-to-maintain jet for allied nations during the Cold War — a “fighter for the free world.”
The Tiger II is an improved version of the earlier F-5 Freedom Fighter (F-5A/B), which first flew in 1959. The upgraded F-5E Tiger II made its maiden flight on August 11, 1972. It featured more powerful General Electric J85 engines, a larger wing area, improved avionics, and the ability to carry modern missiles like the AIM-9 Sidewinder.
The F-5 was built with simplicity and agility in mind — small, fast, and cheap to operate compared to aircraft like the F-4 Phantom II. It could reach speeds over Mach 1.6, handle tight turns, and operate from short or rough airstrips, making it perfect for smaller air forces.
The United States Air Force mainly used the F-5 as an aggressor aircraft for dissimilar air combat training, mimicking Soviet MiGs at the Top Gun and Red Flag schools. However, it was exported widely under the Military Assistance Program, with more than 30 countries flying it — including Iran, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil.
The Tiger II also saw combat in several conflicts, such as the Vietnam War, the Iran–Iraq War, and various African and Middle Eastern regional wars. Its reliability, low cost, and solid performance made it a long-lived fighter — many upgraded F-5s remain in service today with new radar, cockpit systems, and modern weapons.
