In a parallel universe somewhen:
His Majesty's Aircraft “Velvet Fist”
Take-off: Apply 50% throttle, rotate at 130mph: once airborne, throttle up to 100% and raise gear.
Landing: Use 15% throttle for final approach, flare and cut power just before wheels touch. Once down, wait until speed drops to 60mph or less then apply brakes.
Taxiing: 2% throttle and yaw; rear wheel steering.
Armament: AG1; Large caliber cannon. AG2; Port cannon. AG3; Starboard machine guns. 18 rockets in 2 underwing canisters; Once all fired, AG4 to jettison empty canisters.
Built without sponsorship by: Outpost 7.
His Majesty's Aircraft “Velvet Fist” is a medium speed, heavily armed inshore fighter used for point defense, inshore patrols and ground attack. Along with its weapons fit of cannon and machine guns, the craft has a pair of 9-shot missile pods for use against hard ground targets or naval vessels.
@AviownCorp: Slippery fuselage pieces.
@Komuhachi: Small master cockpit, guns, props, rear wheels.
@Sarpanitu: Non-collision parts, gear activated rotators.
Note: Master cockpit is on the centre line for guns and ground handling, camera 1 is the virtual asymmetric cockpit view. (As best I can with these weird cameras)
While lots of people are currently trying to “Get 2 da choppa” I came across a Cutangus design I thought would make good initial use of the new hollow fuselage and at the same time I had this (paraphrased) conversation with a friend:
Friend: “I see you don’t build weird planes anymore...”
Me: “Are you kidding? All my planes are weird!”
Friend: “No, I mean REALLY weird”.
Me: “So like how weird should I make my next plane?”
Friend: “I dunno, do something really stupidly, head-scratchingly, mind-bogglingly, impractically weird!”
Me after a short pause: “Challenge accepted! I'm gonna need tea. Lots of tea”.
So a bit more of a silly fun build than usual.
